I Wonder

Sometimes I wonder
What she thought
When the bullet
Hit her brain
Did she feel any pain?

I was told
Her death was quick
But still I wonder
As her body hit the floor
Did she know who walked through her door?

A young woman in her prime
Was killed
Such a terrible crime
And still I wonder
Did she think of the children left behind?

For a few measly dollars
A life was ended
But four more destroyed
We are all grown now
But still we wonder
Though we don't speak of it
What our life would be
If we had our mother
