Moringa Oleifera

This is the moringa oleifera or what the locals in PI call kamunggay or malunggay.  Most everyone grows this wonderful tree in their yard. Though delicate and fragile looking they are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it's considered a superfood.  They add the tiny green leaves to soups, omelettes, spaghetti as well as other dishes.  They are delicious!  The pods that grow from the trees are also edible, the first year's growth but subsequent growths become bitter over time.  I haven't had the pleasure of trying the pods yet but I will eventually.  Yummy stuff!

Island Sunset

I kneel
In reverence
Savoring the last
Of your golden touch
Before the moon
Caresses me
With her
Incandescence

Native Tongue

They spoke to me
In their native tongue
Of the birds
And all of nature

From Afar

I see you there
Beautiful and serene
A peek of brilliance
Is all you are willing
To offer

So I shall stand here
Admiring from afar
Fear keeping me rooted
Lest I get too close
And drown in your
Beguiling charms

Naked Truths

Your passion receded
I am left exposed
To naked truths
I can't deny

Low tide

Aloof

She stands alone
Aloof
Distant

The bonfire
Smoldering
In her soul
Shrouded
With fragility

Undiscovered

Well Preserved

Beauty
Well preserved
For all eternity
To never know
Vulnerability
To never know
Life

Frozen

In A Muddle

I'm lost
In these thoughts
Of hearth and home
Fears I've fought
Bloody battles
In my dome

A sea of white
And heaping piles
Of light

Ramble in
Confusion
Maximum
Air flow
Distribution

Ideas
Not yet written
In stone
Or carved in bone

Changes ever moving
From door to sliding door
Minimal is the key
(In my view)
To lasting beauty

But it might not be
For you

Tempering

I'm going through
An artistic tempering
I'm out of sorts
Quite disconcerting
If I fail, fail, falling
To my demise
It's no surprise
Maybe tomorrow
I shall reprise
My calling

Don't mind me
I'm only
Preposterously
Posturing

Etched On Glass

Separated by glass
Cleansed of the memories before

Today

I am etched on its smooth surface
Catching silent tears
Before falling to the floor

I watched as he strolled away
Towards a life of plenty

Today

The distance widens
There is no way
He could stay

He turned to me one last time
A final goodbye

Today

I blew him a kiss
He caught with a flick of his wrist
And together they traveled, high

While I
Stand below

Today

Fingerprint impressions
Etched in hushed sorrow

Burnt

Parched cracked lips
Too sore to fully close
Not a hint of wetness
On her dry shriveled tongue
Even her blood didn't want
To be exposed

How did I get here
In this barren wasteland?

She wondered
For the millionth time

This world of sand and sun

Take it from her
She wasn't having any fun

She lay exhausted
On the smooth glassy grains
Eyes closed
Praying for rain
While fiery rays
Pinned and needled
Her painfully
Blistered skin

Her last breath
In defeat

Oh Lord, I give in

How funny...
She thought
Her very last thought
Cafe au lait
My natural hue
But I can burn
Oh baby burn
And I never even knew
