Break My Nighttime Fast

I feel your coldness
Creeping
Through my ears
Snaking
Down my spine
Playing havoc
In my heart
Trampolining
Between the left
And right ventricles

I know
It's all me
My fear of loss
My fear of things
I can't name
Or put to paper
Hemorrhaging
Insecurities
Dripping slowly
Towards my bowels

The only light I see
Is when the sun rises
To a new dawn
The dark
Has dispelled
Its sinister hold
And I break
My nighttime fast
With a sip of
Hot steamy
Daily affirmations
I can then flush
The negative
Excrement
That has no place
No business
Inside my thoughts
My body
My words

Bear and Bare

So I was told today
Not for the first time
That they like ash

"Ash?" I asked

Yes, ash and smoke
They love smoke
They will bear fruit
If you light a fire
Beneath them

I thought
Yes, I can see that
I'd probably
Bare all too
If you lit a fire
Beneath me

Feral and Unrestrained

A wildness
Surrounded her
A fury
Uncontrolled
Medusa released
In violent ferocity

But a sweetness
Still flows

It's been a few weeks
Since the taming
Falls of silk
At each touch
Of her hand
Angelic softness
Shines
In each passing
Glance

But it's still there
The wilding
Feral
And savagely
Unrestrained

Though
She tries hard
To conceal it
In her eyes
It shows
