A Day In My Life 06302015

Yesterday while on the boat ride across the sea, I noticed a woman wearing flip-flops, standard gear around the islands, and around her feet were ants busily scuttling about.  I looked down at my own feet (they could have done with a bit of lotion) and around everyone else's but hers were the only ones they seemed to be drawn to.  Most of the ants here, from my experience, are highly carnivorous.  They will pass over an easy meal like a piece of bread or a bit of chocolate crumb (well I never!) for a live spider.  I've seen them attack a live spider, take it apart and carry the pieces away.  (Yes!  They would rather battle a spider than have chocolate!  Priorities!)  My own little army of spider annihilators.  I've often thought to myself that if I died here they would have picked most of my body apart before anyone found me.  (Darlings, start with the good bits first please.)

So...I wondered what she might have stepped on to cause their little hearts a fluttering...hmmmm....

A Tower of Hate

You stand a tower
Seething
With animosity
Pulsating carcinoma

As your
Wretched soul
Screams
For a love
It cannot have
For who can
Love you more
Than you

You seep
Pour
Ooze
Your dogma
While
Corvid crones
Cackle and squawk
Swallowing
The putrid dribble
Of your negativity

But in all
When all
Is said and done
No one cares
For your
Hatred
Jealousy
And bigotry

Only you

Your Chimes

You rounded the corner
Behind some coconut trees
Walking away from me

While
Looking for your chimes

I waited on the wall
Humming
Watching the
Bubbling surf

While you
Looked for your chimes

The minutes ticked by
Under that golden sun
The breeze teased
And whispered
Naughty anecdotes
I giggled

While you
Looked for your chimes

The sea pixies
Danced in that
Shimmering glow
Tiny crabs
In their mobile homes
Scurried hurriedly
Headed out
For their morning run

While you
Looked for your chimes

As I patiently sat
You rounded the corner
By those coconut trees
In that sure footed way
You have

Smiling that grin
Walking back to me

Your hands holding
The pieces
Of your chimes

Picturesque Village - A Fairytale

In
Picturesque Village
Pastel sublime
There is a mystery
Of the most
Esoteric kind

I sat in wonder
As it boggled
My mind
The streets
Were empty
Not one child
Could I find

"Where have all
The children gone?"
I asked
While I dined

The waiter
Blinked twice
As he glanced
My way
His smile
Misaligned

His answer
Left me
Even more
Perplexed
And out of rhyme

"Yes, isn't it nice.
The streets
Are quiet and safe
To enjoy
The sunshine.
Our children
Are all devised
And predesigned.
They must stay
In our special schools
Until
They've all been
Entirely
Streamlined."

He said it so
Matter-of-fact
I could not
Raise a response

So I finished
My meal
And I'd like to add
It was mighty fine
Quickly drove off
Just in the nick of time

Before they
Decided
That I should be
Redesigned

I left
That village behind
No village of mine

That Picturesque Village
Pastel sublime

Charlatan

Your smile
Masks malignancy
A fraudulent
Expression of intimacy

Charlatan

A betrayer
Of trust
Vows of honesty
Have turned to rust

Charlatan

You shall reap
What you've sown

The bitch
Yes, that bitch
Your soul
She shall own

Karma

Will come
A callin'

Frozen Stills

I've sealed my lips
To bite my tongue
Ruminate on
One still so young

Time is lost
The years have passed
Frozen stills
Of whispered past

Sentiments
Saline blurred
Bygone seasons
Gently stirred

Shall eyes reflect
Genuine contentment
Or the warmth
Of cheeks thoroughly burnt

The Necromancer

At witching time

I was awoken
When
I heard the howl
So eerily foul

AAaaaaooooOO!
AAaaaaooooOO!

The necromancer
Was a bewitching dancer

That's the tale I was told
Since I was four years old

Tall and statuesque
Beauty in arabesque
Now bent and grotesque
Thanks to a man
Who couldn't understand
Her god-given gifts

It caused
An uncrossable rift

Her love for him
Unmeasurable
For him she would do
The unthinkable
But her gift
Was in her DNA
Remove them?
No way!

One night he stole away
Not a word did he say
No one saw hide nor hair
As if he vanished
Into thin air

Oh how she howled
A howl
So eerily foul

AAaaaaooooOO!
AAaaaaooooOO!

The Necromancer
Was a bewitching dancer

A witness some claimed
Saw her that night
It was a frightful sight
The night her man
Took off and ran

It was a full moon
Don't you know
Her in the meadow
All aglow

Clawing, clawing, clawing
Scratching and mauling
Her face
It was an alarming
Case

Her blood streaming down
As she pirouette
Round and round
Marking the ground

Nothing grows there
To this very day

And for many years
She lay in tears
The heartbreak
Of the betrayed
She slowly grew bowed
Each day

Maybe there was a burden
Too heavy
For her shoulders
To carry
Or vengeful hands
Tugging her down
Pulling her down
To the ground

Many had their own
Theories
But never made
Any inquiries

It's been decades now
But every year I hear the howl
Of the necromancer
She was a bewitching dancer

AAaaaaooooOO!
AAaaaaooooOO!
